Are You Waiting for Surgery?

General Practitioner Margareta Wenkel Marbella

Then we can probably help you!

Dr. Margareta Wenkel, Stellamottagningen in Marbella, has entered into an agreement for surgical capacity with Spain’s largest private hospital, Quironsalud.
We now have the opportunity to offer surgery for expats at one of Spain’s leading private hospitals and provide a process where we follow the patient from start to finish.

Collaboration with the Swedish Regions

In Sweden, especially eye, knee, and hip surgeries often have exceptionally long waiting times. Here in Spain, 2-4 weeks.

In many regions, Sweden has unreasonably long queues for certain surgeries, while in Spain there is available capacity in private healthcare. If you are a Swedish citizen, you might be eligible for operation abroad, financed by your region. By allowing patients to undergo surgery at one of the leading private hospitals here in Spain, the regions reduce healthcare queues without having to allocate enormous resources that are not in the budget for investments in hospitals, staff, etc. At the same time, you as a patient can receive much faster assistance and avoid unnecessary suffering for many months.

Why Wait for Surgery when You Can Have it Done in Spain? Right, Tore?

Tore Larson is one of the Swedes we have helped avoid many months of suffering through surgery in Spain. Read more about Tore’s experience here.

Our experienced & Swedish doctors here in Marbella guide you through the process from start to finish

If you are a Swedish citizen, registered in Sweden and on a waiting list for surgery, send your medical records and any X-rays to us to benefit from our cooperation with the swedish regions. We contact Quironsalud, obtain a price for the surgery, which we then send to your region in Sweden. Once the price is approved by your region, a guarantee for you and us, the process begins and the surgery is booked. In principle, all surgeries can be performed at Quironsalud, but it is especially advantageous for eye, knee, and hip surgeries where the waiting time from start to finish is a maximum of 2-4 weeks.
Through the Social Insurance Agency, your region reimburses your surgery later, but you need to advance the money initially. Your final price: A plane ticket to Spain.

For patients registered in Spain, the treating surgeon establishes a medical record, which must then be approved by your insurance company, or you pay the cost yourself.

Timeframe

We estimate that the process takes between 2-4 weeks before you can undergo surgery. Plus the time it takes for the Region to approve the surgery.
